Scranton, Pennsylvania, is best known as the hometown of Joe Biden and the popular sitcom The Office, but its citizens have a reputation for everyday values like the importance of hard work and family. This is especially true for Scranton native Maria Lucchi, a Worldwide Supply Demand Planner at Apple, who in high school juggled jobs at Giant Food Stores, Dunkin' Donuts, and Rita's Italian Ice, all to save up for college...

Her return to academics took her to MIT's Supply Chain Management Graduate Program, where she graduated and found both a challenging academic environment and a community of new friends eager to help each other out. “The program gave me a chance to start fresh,” she explains. “I met so many incredible, smart, and warm people. While Maria focused on building connections and enhancing her leadership skills, she also sharpened her analytical abilities. “I’m not the world’s best coder,” she admits, “but I learned enough to hold my own and communicate effectively with data scientists, which is important in this field.”
